Interactive experience centre on the Port of Rotterdam opening this spring Portlantis will open its doors to visitors on Saturday, 22 March 2025. Located at Maasvlakte 2, this interactive experience centre will be the ultimate place to explore and immerse yourself in the world of the Port of Rotterdam.

Portlantis will offer a fresh perspective on Rotterdam’s port and industrial area, providing visitors with an engaging journey through Europe’s largest and most advanced port. The building will feature an atrium, exhibition spaces, offices, meeting rooms, hospitality facilities and a rooftop terrace with a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the North Sea, beach, dunes and the port itself. Each square-shaped floor will offer a unique perspective that aligns with the story being told on that level. Designed as a completely Energy Neutral Building (ENG), Portlantis will be powered by its own wind turbine and an extensive array of solar panels.

“At Portlantis, visitors will experience – in a unique and surprising way – the significance of the port for Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Europe” says Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. “We’re going to take visitors on a journey through the port’s present and future, highlighting its crucial role in employment and the economy, and last but not least as a hub for innovative projects.”

Eileen Niks, Programme Manager for Portlantis at the Port of Rotterdam Authority, adds “The interactive experience centre will use a wide range of storytelling techniques, including virtual reality and augmented reality, large 3D model exhibitions and laboratories where visitors can conduct chemical and technical experiments. Portlantis will cater to visitors of all ages. As a bonus, an excellent restaurant will also open its doors.” Portlantis will become the “home of the port”. A place to explore exhibitions, attend events and of course experience its stunning rooftop.
