Loos is housed in Het Atlantic Huis, a premises with a rich shipping history. It is a 100% Rotterdam café-restaurant with a ‘grand café couleur locale,’ as they say in Paris.
We speak with assistant manager Shafana. ‘Since 1988, Loos has been housed in the monumental premises across the historical Veerhaven. With its timeless interior and authentic atmosphere, it makes you feel at home as soon as you enter.’
From early in the morning till late in the evening, the café is a meeting place where everybody can enjoy a cup of coffee at the reading table, a tasty roll, have lunch, a nice drink or a delicious meal. Shafana: ‘Our kitchen staff are very creative. They often prepare dishes that were popular in the old days, like fried bream and black pudding. Our menu changes with the seasons, and we have a daily varying menu.’
Loos is definitely worth a visit. Address: Westplein 51. Within easy walking distance from the cruise terminal. After you have crossed Erasmus Bridge, turn left along the water (Willemskade) and turn right at Veerhaven. You can see Loos at the corner.
Opened every day from 10 a.m. till midnight and on Fridays and Saturdays till 1 a.m.
Or take a watertaxi (€7 per person) from the quay near Hotel New York to Veerhaven. Why not go for a nice walk in the neighbourhood (Scheepvaartkwartier, Parklaan and Stadspark with the Euromast)?
